Synonymous with Sicily and named after Avola (a small town in south east Sicily). Nero D’Avola wines are often compared to new world shirazes. “The Black Grape of Avola” appears to have been selected several hundred years ago for it’s liking of hot and relatively dry climate which makes it perfectly suited to the warm conditions of the Perth Hills.
